Catholics Bear Primary Responsiblity for Fatima’s Failure or Success

Our Lady came to Fatima for the sake of all of her children – to save their souls from hell in the eternal order, and to bring peace to the world in the temporal.  While her call for conversion from sin is directed to everyone, her devotional requests are uniquely and specifically directed at the Catholics of the world.

Why do I say this?  Well, who has rosaries;  scapulars; the sacrament of Confession/Reconciliation; Holy Communion?  And whose doctrines include the possibility of one person making reparation for the sins of others or meriting grace which can affect their souls, or for that matter, even the possibility of meriting grace at all?  Is it not Catholics?

One cannot honor Our Lady’s request for daily prayer, penance and sacrifice – the offering up of everything – to make reparation for our own sins and for sins of others and for the conversion of sinners unless the Faith by which they live supports this possibility.

Her request for the daily praying of the rosary cannot be fulfilled by those who do not believe in it or consider it blasphemy.

Her request for the wearing of the brown scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the living of the consecration it signifies cannot be accomplished by those who do not believe in scapulars or consecration to Mary.

The devotion of the Communions of Reparation on First Saturdays cannot be practiced by those who do not have sacramental Confession or the Holy Eucharist, and who do not accept the rosary.

The devotional requests of Our Lady of Fatima provide the precise weapons of spiritual warfare so desperately needed today.  Unless the Catholics of the world take them up and use them often and well, the world will continue to lose battle after battle and the consequences for themselves, their children and their children’s children for generations to come will be grave.

We know that in the end The Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph and God will defeat the evil one.  But we too easily forget that our cooperation with the Cross of Christ is included in the Divine Battle Plan.  As St. Paul tells us, we must make up in our bodies what is lacking in the sufferings of Christ.  We have a role to play, and the sooner we play it the sooner the war will be won.

If you have not yet embraced Our Lady of Fatima’s devotional requests, I urge you do so now.  If you need assistance in learning about them, I’m here to help.  Please consider joining The World Apostolate of Fatima, Our Lady’s Blue Army today.  We’ll introduce you to others with whom you can unite in saving souls from hell and bringing peace and tranquility to the world.

This article also appeared in 2014 Issue 3 of Soul Magazine – an excellent source for information about Fatima and the work of the apostolate.
