The message of Fatima spread throughout the world after World War II largely through the Pilgrim Virgin Statue tours which began in 1947. Their purpose then, as today, is to bring the graces of Fatima and Our Lady’s message of hope, peace and salvation to those many thousands of people who may never have an opportunity to make a pilgrimage to Fatima itself.
The World Apostolate of Fatima, USA is the custodian of four statues, including the famous International Pilgrim Virgin Statue, traveling since 1947, and the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue for the United States. Our statue custodians will give age-appropriate talks on the story and message of Fatima at each parish or school visited. We make available rosaries, scapulars, books and Fatima materials at our literature table for suggested donations. Our Pilgrim Virgin Statue Program is made financially feasible by donations. Parish collections are welcome as well.
Advance approval of the Local Ordinary or Bishop of the diocese is a prerequisite for all statue tours. We recommend four to six months to adequately prepare for a successful tour. Information and tour calendars for each statue are below:
The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima
The “world-famous” International Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima is currently on a two-year Fatima Centennial US Tour for Peace, marking the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima, visiting more than 100 dioceses in all 50 states through December 20, 2017. Please visit the Tour website to view the calendar.
The historic statue was sculpted in 1947 by Jose Thedim. The image reflects the description of Sr. Lucia, the oldest of the three Fatima seers. On October 13,1947, more than 150,000 Fatima pilgrims witnessed the blessing of this image of Our Lady by the Bishop of Leiria at Fatima, Portugal as he commissioned it to serve as the Pilgrim Virgin who would carry the blessings of Fatima and Our Lady’s message throughout the world to the many millions of her children who would never have an opportunity to visit Fatima.
The International Pilgrim Virgin Statue has traveled the world many times visiting more than 100 countries, including Russia and Red China, bringing the great message of salvation and of hope, “the peace plan from heaven,” to countless millions of people.
So many miracles and signal graces have been reported wherever the statue has traveled that, in 1951, Pope Pius XII remarked: “In 1946, we crowned Our Lady of Fatima as Queen of the World and the next year, through Her Pilgrim Statue, She set forth as though to claim Her dominion, and the favors She performs along the way are such that we can hardly believe what we are seeing with our eyes.”
Patrick L. Sabat, who has served as one of the custodians of this statue for many years, is its principal custodian. To inquire about a visit of the IPVS, please contact Mr. Sabat at 219-218-8991 or email@example.com. See US TOUR FOR PEACE CALENDAR here.
The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue – NPVS
The National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima is a beautiful hand-carved image of Our Lady of Fatima given to the United States by the bishop of Fatima after being blessed by Pope Paul VI in 1967. She was crowned by Cardinal O’Boyle at the National Basilica in Washington, DC in 1971.
This statue presently travels across the United States under the sponsorship of the WAF USA. She has proven time and again to be the catalyst for renewed interest in the message of Fatima and for exposing new generations of Catholics who are unaware of the important message of conversion and peace brought by Our Lady to the three shepherd children in 1917 at Fatima, Portugal.
Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Fatima Statue – IHMS
The Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Fatima statue was designed as she appeared in 1929 to Sr. Lucia in Tuy, Spain. It was during this apparition that Our Lady asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart. The statue was blessed by Pope Francis on October 23, 2013, 10 days after his consecration of the world to Our Lady of Fatima on October 13. It was formally introduced at the 2014 March for Life in Washington, D.C., and was present soon after at the consecrations of the Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon and the Diocese of Green Bay in Wisconsin. This statue is available for special events as well as for diocesan statue tours.
The United Nation Pilgrim Virgin Statue – UNPVS
October 13, 1952, the Bishop of Fatima blessed this treasured replica of Our Lady of Fatima for its mission to the United Nations. The statue was brought to America and on December 8th, 1952, and was taken into the Meditation Room of the United Nations where our WAF Co-founder Msgr. Harold Colgan, led the recitation of the Rosary for world Peace. The UNPVS has been part of the World Apostolate of Fatima USA ever since, and has traveled around the globe. It is an Ambassador of Hope for our nation and countries of our world. First Class Relics of Blessed Francisco and Blessed Jacinta accompany this famous icon. It is available for individual groups, parishes, schools, conferences and retreats.
